Meaning

Early root uncertain, in the Finnish Eleonoora short-form tradition.

The Finnish Noora entry identifies an Eleonoora short form. Eleonoora is borrowed from Swedish Eleonora, whose entry identifies Eleanor as the English counterpart. Eleanor’s early derivation has competing proposals. Light is therefore not presented as a settled literal meaning of this Finnish route. Unrelated Arabic or other same-spelling traditions require their own name-specific evidence.

Origin

Finnish short-form tradition, from Eleonoora.

The Finnish given-name section explicitly identifies the Eleonoora short form. This does not rule out unrelated Noora histories in other languages.
