RARE BABY NAMES
Account deletion
Review the effect on your saved names and Family Circles before deleting.
How to delete your application account
Account deletion permanently removes the account from Rare Baby Names. It does not delete the Auth0 sign-in profile or your Google or Microsoft account.
- Sign in using the Google or Microsoft identity for the account you want to delete.
- Open Settings, then Review account deletion.
- Read the affected-circle list and choose Verify my sign-in. Complete sign-in using that same identity.
- After returning, review the details again. If you own circles, explicitly confirm deletion of every listed circle for all its members.
- Type DELETE MY ACCOUNT exactly and choose Permanently delete my account.
You can cancel before submitting. Sign-in verification alone does not delete anything. Completed deletion cannot be undone, and ownership is not transferred automatically. The site signs you out after completion.
What is removed
- Your local account record and application sessions.
- Love, Maybe and Passed choices, remembered discovery preferences and optional private card details.
- Every circle you own, including membership, invitations, suggestions, finalists, ballots, chosen name and discussion, after the separate ownership warning and confirmation.
- In circles owned by other people, your membership, private ballot and authored discussion. Identifying attribution is removed or replaced with generic attribution.
Other owners’ circles remain. Already revealed aggregate vote totals can remain without an account link, and messages written by other people can still mention you.
If deletion is pending
A separate protected recovery system must acknowledge the deletion before erasure can complete. An unavailable or failed check can leave the operation pending and temporarily block protected account actions. The service does not report completion until the required removal and checks finish.
If you see a pending message, retry the review when the service is available or use Contact. Do not create another account while a deletion is being resolved. A minimal suppression record prevents the deleted sign-in identity from silently recreating an account.
What deletion cannot remove
Your Google/Microsoft account and Auth0 profile are separate from the local application account. Disconnecting the app in a provider’s settings is also different from deleting application data here.
The app clears its saved-choice and private-card browser copies in the browser completing deletion; it cannot clear every browser or device you have used. It cannot recall printed cards, PDFs, images, shortlist exports, social posts, calendar events or copies held by other people.
Support conversations and provider operational records have separate handling. Use Contact for information outside the account workflow. Ownership verification may still be needed.
Recovery copies and deletion safeguards
Routine encrypted backups have a 30-day target and a minimum of 14 independently verified successful sets. Verification failures can extend that period. Historical/manual recovery holds are reviewed separately and do not expire automatically. Account deletion does not immediately erase every archive, and there is no fixed maximum archive-erasure promise.
A minimal protected record retains account references and keyed sign-in identifiers needed to prevent deleted information or a suppressed identity from returning. It does not copy your shortlist, card details or discussion. Deletion history and matching protection keys are excluded from ordinary expiry while needed for that purpose.
A restore must use trusted deletion history and reapply pending and completed removals before account access reopens. Missing or invalid history blocks recovery of protected accounts rather than creating an empty replacement. No recovery system guarantees survival of every simultaneous failure.
For the separate local log and support-message periods, see Privacy: retention. Support conversations use manual review 12 calendar months after resolution; spam after 30 days.
Smaller changes or help signing in
For a smaller change, toggle Love or Maybe off, restore Passed names, turn off remembered preferences or clear private card details in Settings. Signing out is different from deleting an account. Export a shortlist or download any card you want to keep before removal.
Guest choices stay in that browser; use the reset controls or clear site storage to remove them. The shortlist export is not a full export of every account or circle record.
If you cannot sign in or need a privacy request reviewed, use Contact without creating another account. Never send passwords, passkeys, sign-in codes, cookies, provider tokens or live invitation links. A contact message alone does not prove account ownership. See the privacy request and appeal process for additional rights.
